I have a 2000, 200 HP carbed Johnson. Last weekend, I did the seafoam decarb. In the process, I noticed a hose not connected. The hose was not connected. That's the reason I started gently tugging on it to see if it was connected. And it wasn't. I have the OEM manual and found the pic of the hose routing and it shows the hose as part of the recirculation system . The hose is black with a yellow stripe running the length of the hose. The pic shows a hose running from each cylinder to each carb. It also shows the hose that's disconnected is the one from the bottom of the block going to the in-line check valve and then to the the upper left carb. Well, I'm here to tell you that I cannot find ANYWHERE on the upper left carb for this hose to attach. (viewed when standing in the boat looking at the carbs) I cannot find the inline check valve. I have looked and looked, took a break and looked some more. I have spent a couple hours pouring over the motor trying to find where it goes. I removed the starter for a better view. NOT. No luck there. Motor runs just great at present. Is it possible that the check valve was left off, or the book is wrong? I hope so. Here is the possible problems listed in the manual for a disfunctional recirc system. (The same manual that shows the hose going to the check valve that I cannot find)
Erratic or poor idle characteristics
Fouled plugs in lower cyl
Exessive smoke when accellerated after long idle
Idle quality sensitive to trim angle

I haven't noticed any of this to date. But probably will now. At present, I plan to leave this hose disconnected. Heck, I can't find where it goes. Would this cause long term problems?
