Does my 1991 70 johnson tleie have one? Having some intermittant spark issues and want to disconnect it briefly to see if problem stops

The 1991 70HP came with an unregulated rectifier. It looks like the one pictured here:

It should not.

Go to Rapair.com and download the troubleshooting guide. It is 60+ Pages, but worth saving to your PC.

rectifier converts the ac voltage to dc to charge the battery. should not effect spark.

Thanks ezeke good read I guess I am going to have a look at the strator for the spark issue, new pp, coils, wires, plugs , impeller and t-stat in last 3 months
