Hello all! I recently bought a 1990 four winns freedom 190. We love the boat and are in need of a Good Quality prop. We do alot of tubing and pulling a skier. I have a 15 1/4x17 that came on the boat but have since changed it to a 19 pitch as recomended by the local prop shop. I think its actually slower now, I have been looking at different props and am wanting to know if Stainless steel is better than Aluminum? Also what is a good prop for opur boat ?? We are looking for speed. Currently we are at around 40mph. at 4000rpm. Please let me know if there is a difference if it is stainless steel or aluminum and what prop would be good, Thank you Dave

The stock prop for your boat in 1990 was a 14-1/4 x 21p 3 blade aluminum. Top speed was 45 to 48 mph You have the wrong prop on that 150HP V6. If you want to pull a skier, a 3 blade is not ideal on that boat. You will get the best results for skiing and top speed/RPM with a Michigan Wheel 14 x20p 4-blade aluminum. Do not know what sterndrive you have so I can't give you the part number

Before making any changes;if you have the 17" prop do some test runs lightly loaded, remind us of the prop size and get us the wot rpm and gps speed.I have a feeling the 23 year old motor is a little tired.

Assume you have the 4-3/4" Gearcase on your OMC Cobra. If so , that Michigan Wheel Vortex part # would be 992204. Which is a 14 x 20p 4-blade aluminum. If you went with a 3-blade , it would be a 14-1/4 x 21p part # 992005.
