How big of a boat are you talking about?
There are plenty of companies out there that will transport large (over 8'6" width) boats. They have specialized equipment and the ability to get all the correct permits to make the move. It isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for.
To transport a smaller, trailerable boat it can be cost prohibitive to hire a company to do it....of course it depends on the boat also. A small bowrider compared to a trailerable cruiser could end up costing almost the same amount to transport. If the trailer is road worthy it may be cheapest to "hire" a friend/acquaintanence to get the job done.
