1996 Crestliner 2160 Phantom with a 1996 Evinrude 130 E130TLED motor. The thing blows out very easily. The only other larger boat I've had had an I/O, but as cruising speed(30mph) the thing blows out with the slightest turn of the wheel unless I trim down all of the way and bury the nose in the water. I've only had the boat for a couple of months and want to make sure some things are setup right prior to spending money on a new prop. I've read threads about the cav plate being 1-2 inches below the transom, is this a good starting setup? The prop is an AL 14.25X21. RPM's at WOT are 5400 and top speed is 42mph. Thanks for any help or suggestions you provide.

Re: Recommended WOT

rndn, alot will depend on the prop choice, but the AV plate should be an inch or so ABOVE the boat bottom to start with.
What prop are you running and do you have a 25" shaft on a 25" transom?

I assume you can measure the shaft on the outboard?

Re: Recommended WOT

The prop is stamped 14 1/4 X 21 R MWC, so I'm assuming it's a Michigan Wheel Corporation. The measurement on the outboard is about 25 inches from the bottom of the cowling to the gear case. The transom is stepped back for the outboard but the total measurement from the top of the transom to the bottom is about 25 inches. It's kind of hard to measure as I have a bad back and the outboard mount is sticking out about about 14-16 inches beyond the bottom (keel??) of the boat.
