Have Sessa Rapala 19 (Italian sports fisher). But recovery eye is loose in the bow do I just tighten it up (nuts at back) or should I remove it and affect more substancial repair. Figure fibre glass must be damaged for it to be loose. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks Neil.

Re: recovery eye

If you can get to the nuts I would take it out and inspect everything it made contact with.If everything is in fair to good shape just seal and install it back in.

Re: recovery eye

neil - Usually the recovery eye (which we call the bow eye) has or should have a stainless steel plate on the inside of the hull. I would remove the eye and smear the holes with 3M 5200 or equal sealer and reinstall. Unless the holes through the fiberglass have worked themselves into huge holes that is all you need to do.

Re: recovery eye

OK thanks for the advice, have taken nuts off the back and the stainless plate seems jammed on the inside of the eye to the studs, will persevere and remove to fully inspect. Will post my findings when I eventually get stainless plate off. Thanks again for your help Neil
