I was trying to figure out why my tach. and speedometer wasn't working today. I took afew pictures of what i found.. Could anyone tell me if this normally happens with age or if there maybe another issue to look into. The rectifier looks burnt ! Im not sure the part number and currently trying to find another one to install.. The boat runs fine, I took it out this past weekend... but this just doesn't look healthy

I also found a wire not attached while looking things over.. blue wire another anohter thast looks like it goes together.. and a red wire with one end that isn't hooked up in the same area.. but behind the starter area.

anyone seen this before or can point me in the direction of what might have happened?>

I would go to cdielectronic.com, click your make, year,HP, part which you say is the rectifier, IDK what part it is..
cdi is the king of ignition parts, they will have the part.

Free factory service manuals at www boatinfo.no/lib/library.html Click your make, find your motor, find the page your looking for.

regulator/rectifier... they do that.

someone has been in there.... blues and greens go to tha trim relays and switches/buttons but have been spliced with what looks like red (maybe pink) and yellow.... trim relays and connectors don't look to healthy either.. had a little "southern engineering" applied in several places....tha red ya mention was originally a 12v feed to tha trim switches/buttons probably....
