Rectifier question.

I have a 1989 Mariner 75hp 3 cylinder. Rectifier #'s Old# 12082-A7... New# 194-5279

The original rectifier went toes up and I have
Purchased the replacement, which is the third update since 89. There are 5 wires on the new
unit (2 red = Battery, 2 yellow = Alt..... one of them is high resistance and the other is around
56k ohms, and a gray = tach). There are 3 wires on the old unit (1 red = battery, 2 yellow = alt).
The question is...which yellow wire goes to which yellow wire, or does it
matter. Other than that... this should be a breeze.

As for mounting the thing...the old rectifier is much larger than the new
one and no 2 bolt holes line up (there are three on the original.
Do I need to build an adapter plate or do they make one?

Thanks for the help

Michael

Re: Rectifier question.

The position of the yellow wires does not matter. The stator's job is to produce AC voltage. The rectifier changes that AC voltage to DC. You are replacing a rectifier with a rectifier/regulator. This will be a better fit(in my opinion) and provide a regulated 14.5v maximum power supply for your boat.
