What is the charging capacity of the factory rectifier? I bought an aftermarket snowmobile rectifier two years ago and it works great. The reason I am asking is I am puting two batteries in my boat and would like them to be charging while the motor is running. I'm sure it can handle one or the other but if I put the switch on "1&2" will they both get a charge? Below is a picture of the rectifer I am using.

Thanks,

Re: Rectifier/regulator

I'm looking forward to seeing where this thread goes...

Are you putting both of your batteries in parallel or are you using a battery isolator circuit?

I believe that the factory rectifier is on the order of 35A for my (85hp), but that you are limited far more by the output of the stator, which is not much.... although perhaps your 150 has a beefier stator.

Re: Rectifier/regulator

If you put the batt switch to 1& 2 or "both", you are turning you 2 batts into one batt and I think the 2 batts will equalize their respective charges or states of charge. My recollection is that OBs only have a few amps charging capacity, but anyway both batts will be getting the charge when they are combined with the switch on "1 & 2"
