alright i use regular unleaded, i mix with mercury 2 stroke oil 3 oz. to 1 gallon. I prime the bulb. I see blue premixed fuel. Boat runs great. Park the boat, and within 2 days the fuel in my inline filter is red.... Any ideas on what this could be, or is this normal?? I have recently had problems with my fuel system. Gunk in the tank, replaced lines, replaced primer bulb, filter, and installed a water seporator.

Any input would be helpful, thanks.

It is doubtful it is normal. What is the gas tank made of? Could it be rust or rusty water in the fuel?

Re: red fuel????

Years ago when I raced Karts I sometimes used a methanol/nitro fuel and a synthetic oil, called "Steen C". The Steen C was pale blue coming out of the bottle, but turned bright red after a few hours of exposure to UV light. Its performance was not affected by the color change.

I wonder if the Merc outboard oil you are using contains a similar additive.

Re: red fuel????

actually im not. i am using Texaco unleaded. Im kinda thinking it was just water or something. I have not had the boat very long, and i suspect the previous owner (forgot) to tell me about the time he left the fuel cap off for that big storm......
