Hmmm.<br /><br />It seems to me that generic terms, like Redskins, Indians, Papooses, etc. might offend some, but I don't see actual anglicized tribe names as offensive. <br /><br />I suppose the names that the tribes had for themselves might be more acceptable. For example, Sheyela, rather than Cheyenne; Lakota rather than Sioux.<br /><br />If we can't use the names of tribes of native Americans, should we also forbid "Vikings", "Trojans", "Cowboys" and other names associated with particular groups???<br /><br />I guess I can see Redskins and Papooses as offensive because they were traditionally derogatory terms, but others have always been terms of respect or simply identification.<br /><br />CA is living up to its reputation for overdoing social engineering.
