Reeds how to check if ok

[my new fishmaster]

my 95 75hp force single carb engine does not seem to run quite right. Checked everything just about except elec,reeds. I was running on the lake with the engine cover off and I think I could see the reeds flaping. Are they like the fuel and air mixers.

Reeds work like valves in a 4 cycle engine.<br />Go to http://w3.one.net/~jschust/animations.html <br />This is how 2 cycle engines work.

Your reeds will be bad if they don't seal against the reed cage any more, or they are cracked and worn. A visual inspection is generally sufficient.
