My wife has a cat named Reeses. I'm not much of a "cat person", so Reeses and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, but for the most part we get along pretty well.

Well, the deal is, the cat sleeps in the basement at night and in order to get the cat to go downstairs, I'll throw a treat down the steps which the cat will chase. Once the cat is down there, I close the door and it's good night kitty.

For the past few days, sort of as a stupid joke to myself, I've been "hog calling" the cat by saying "SOOOOOOIEEEE!!! Kitty Kitty Kitty HOG!" as I give the cat the night time treat.

So, just for fun, this afternoon, I "Hog Called" the cat... Yep. She came running. Now the cat knows to come find me when she hears the hog call.

Just thought it was funny.

Any other stupid pet tricks out there?

Re: Reeses the Cat

I used to yell "go get 'em" every time I saw a cat on my fence, and the dog would go running and barking. Now I just have to say go get 'em and he starts barking like crazy, even if there's nothing there. It's great for door to door salesmen. :D

Two of my cats, Nermal and Trouble, drink water from the faucet...

Turn the water on just a tad, and lick-lick-lick-lick-lick-lick-lick-lick-lick.... :p

Sometimes Nerm will drink that way for 5 minutes, or longer.. I swear, one of these days he's gonna drink up the lake!... :D

Other than that, they're pretty fat, lazy, and stupid... :D

And then there's, Bear.. Well... Bear's a "special case" altogether... I think someone dropped him on his head when he was a kitten.. (he ain't wrapped to tight, if you get my meaning) ;)

I lay my cats flat on their side on the tile floor. Hook 1 finger under their chin and spin them round and round. They can't get away til I stop spinning. When I stop they try to run away but are too dizzy.

DeputyDawg - if I ever did that with Reeses, I'd come up missing a few fingers - I'm sure! :)

Probably nothing new, but I still like the tape on the cats paws(Hilarious!) and the peanut butter for the dogs mouth. Yep, I can still laugh at those. Speaking of... I need a good laugh!

Or learn very fast. :D
ROFLOL!
It would seem that way.
Cats are actually good learners.. and very smart.
But get distracted very easy!

We watched one of our cats trying to get to the highest spot in the shop. (Everyone knows the highest cats rules!) Took her two days.. and afterwards less than a minute for the last year.

But.. and there is always a BUT! No matter where she is in the climb.. let a fly go overhead and she jumps.. next thing she knows its just clear air between her and the floor! ACK!
(Link) Makes note to self:
Never again try to catch a falling cat! 20 claws/needles flying in all directions makes for a bloody face, chest, arms and legs!

And yea, cats don't bounce good!
But will next time :D :D

Re: Reeses the Cat

We have three cats and they STEAL like ravens. First time one got on the kitchensink I clicked my fingers and got the look " Whatssamattayou?"
The second time the dog got into it and chased the cat through the cat-door. So we teamed up, she looks and when there is another stealth-steal about to be perpetrated she looks at me and I click my fingers. The cats got wise and don't wait for those fangs clicking away too close to their rear-ends. They take off like rockets, the dog goes back to taking a nap and I grab my book. Funny part of it is that my wife is wondering how I can see around corners and how it is that the cats take so good notice of a click. Secret between a man and his dog :D
