Hi,

last weekend I gave my drainplug an extra tightening turn for "just in case". Well the stainless sleeve that accomodates the plug, and that should be glued into the transom just turned along with the plug.

What do I use to re glue. Epoxy or Silicone RTV?

Cheers
Andrew

Re: Refitting drainplug sleeve

You will need to remove it and install a new one. 3M 5200 works good for that task. You will have to get the new sleeve and cut it to length. It comes with one end already flanged and the other end is straight. You push it through the hole and mark it about 3/8th inch past the surface and cut the excess off. Liberally coat the sleeve and hole with 5200 and insert. You should use the special tool that sets and flanges the sleeve tightly in the hole, but you would have to try to beg or borrow it from a shop. I used a hammer and a 3/8th drive extension on my drainplug sleeves to round over the flange. It worked but it was a bit of a pain. The tool makes it much easier. Either way, good luck.
