Hallo! I'm trying to remove a tilt/trim unit from 70hp (1984). I can't free the tilt piston and its 'head' from the rig unit.
I wonder if anyone knows how it is fastened. There seems to be 2 bolts from each side but the bolthead was all rusty and impossible to move.
It seems to be an almost 1 cm bolt but I wonder if it is threaded through the rig metal and how it is connected to the piston head (which is also terribly rusty)
Should one heat the bolt glowing and try to turn it? I have taken away what was left of the head with an angular grinder and bored two holes into it, trying to put in some sprints and moving it with a pipe wrench.
I can't by any stretch of my imagination understand how one can make such a bad and unmaintainable construction !!
Thanks for any advice !
