Looking at a 24 Foot Regal Signiture. It is a 2003 and it just came in from trade so the dealer has not priced it out as yet. Can someone tell me what size engine this should have? I plan on looking at the boat this weekend. My wife was there yesterday and fell in love with the boat and then proceeded to put down $500 to hold it for a few days. If it only has the 5.0 motor will this boat be underpowered? She did tell me it had the two prop.

If its the Bravo III then that 5.0 should be the 260hp MPI motor, it would do the job but there is not any good way of knowing until a good water test has been provided, and if you take a water test, be sure the boat is loaded the way you intend to use it, such has full fuel, holding tanks and the normal compliment of passengers that would be with you. Regal make fine boats and tend to be powered right. a 5.7 mpi would be real sweet. Get her out and let us know what you find.

WE ended up pulling out of the deal. The boat was in perfect condition but after sitting down for two hours and discussing it with our two sons we decided it was over our budget. After all was said and done we were at almost $50,000 with trailer. Our payments would have been over $400 a month. What would have happened is that we would have a boat but no money to take it out plus no money for vacation. It was a very emotional decision to walk away from the deal. The boat just came in on trade and already in 24 hours the dealer had two backup deals on the boat so that just goes to show you the boat had sale's appeal.
