Regal Fast track hull

I am looking at a Regal 2760 Commodore with a "fast track hull". Can anyone tell me about this design and is it any better than a regular hull?

The step hulls reduce water drag, which means a little less power is needed and fuel economy improves. In the right chop there will also be an improvement in ride. There are also some practical downsides.
