Hi,
I have a 1987 Rgal 24ft 233xl. It has a 260hp engine. I am having proping the boat. the preset porp, a 15x19 aluminum prop will ventilate. I e-mail the factory for info on the original prop. They e-mail back and said it was a 14" SS. That was all. Does anyone have the boat and could you tell me what prop you are using. Thank Roman

Re: Regal Prop help

Roman:

My best suggestion in dealing with this is, do a search on google for your boat, chances are you will find people selling them.. Contact one of them and find what they are running, or 2 find a real good prop shop, ask them what the recommend..
Chances are you will want to find the right prop for YOUR needs. Not eveybody runs the same props on the same boats, It all depends on what you are looking for and 2 props that are the exact same size and made by different MFG.'s will perform differently as well...

Things to think about..

Tallman

Re: Regal Prop help

Roman, the boat calls for a 14 1/2 x 17 prop as orig equip. We travel heavy and found it tough to get on plane sometimes.Tried a doel fin with better results.Tried a 16 x 14 and it jumped on plane immediately.I stayed with this prop.It will lower your top end but planeing will be a breeze. Charlie

Re: Regal Prop help

Crazy Charlie,
Thanks for the reply. I have a 15x19 aluminum prop now. It gets on plane ok, but I have a ventilation problem when I trim up the drive while running fast. The rpms, go like crazy and I have to be careful. In other words the prop loses pressure. I have a 14x19 SS spare. I wonder if that would worl right. Thanks Roman

Re: Regal Prop help

I think if anything it may cavitate more.Is it possible you are trimming a little too much?????The boat must fly with the 260 merc. That would get the entire boat as much out of the water as possible which would not allow as much trimming. It may also be that your prop is not cupped. That could cause cav. It would not hurt to try the ss prop if you can change them easy enough. Charlie

Re: Regal Prop help

Charlie,
Thanks for the reply. I will bug you one more time. I am going to try a 14x19 SS cupped prop. I may even try a 141/4x17 cupped SS prop. I figure that in 1987 when the boat was manufacutred cupped props were not the rage. Perhaps I am trimming a little too much. I do not have a problem getting on plane. The boat does have trim tabs, and when loaded, they help to get on plane. I hope this will be a good idea. The cupping might help.
Thanks Roman
