Well, I hate to bring this up but, as a divorce person, I don't want too much "toys" on record for me.
So I really don't want to register a 30' cabin cruiser under my name. So the real question is, If I let a friend register it under his name, and if I get into an accident on the water, will the friend be held liable for it because he is registered?

Just a thought,
Lou

THe short answer is-yes.

Also, if your "friend" decides he really likes it and wants to keep it-guess what, you are going to have a hard time proving it's yours.

Put it in my name and I promise to let you have it back when you want it. ;)

Some states will let register it some else's name and title it in yours. But this may not help you now that I think about it.

In most, if not all states, the title, not registration shows ownership.
john

Same boat I'm in. Put in under 1/2 my brothers name. This helps somewhat. But I'd think one name could be on the title, and several could be on registration/insurance? After all, like a car, the driver is held responsible for most minor incidents. Good luck.
