I just read something in another post somewhere that got me thinking... I have this 72 0r 73 Warren Craft that I got that needs restoration. I do not have a title for it. I have some previous registrations and a bill of sale to the person before me and then a bill of sale to me as well. I am in FL. Do I need to work out registration on this before I do anything to the boat or is there always a way as long as you have a bill of sale kind of thing?

Re: Registration

Personally I would get my title in hand before I put a lot of work in the boat. Its really hard in a lot of states to get if things are not totally correct. I had the same problem. I ended up just selling the boat beacuse getting a good title was going to cost more than the boat was worth.

You might want to look a few services that will help you get a title if you really want the boat. The buy the boat from you and sell it back with a title.

Even If both B.O.S.s are notarized you may still be in for a lot of hassle.
I'm not sure about FL and it's taxes it's been a while since I've lived there. But I believe FL is going to be wanting that money from the previous owners or someone if taxes haven't been paid. If the previous owners had been getting tax notices on it and they replied with that the boat had been junked or salvaged you may never get paperwork on it.

If it's an old woody or even an old FG I believe you can apply for a home built title if you have done a lot of work and can prove your investment.
BUT
Before you spend a bunch of money the best thing to do would be to talk to Wildlife Resources Commission or the Tag and Tittle office and see what direction they point you in.
