My motor is a 1991 135-horse with a 16-amp stator. I think my question is probably applicable to others as well, though.

I'm an electronics tech and have been for a long, long time, and I like to try and apply what I know when and where I can make use of it. Due to some misadventures on my part in the not-distant-enough recent past, I've gotten a bit of hands-on experience with my electrical system. And I've gotten considerablr help and knowledge here too.

I have a Clymer manual, and it shows the elctrical system wiring and is useful. Unfortunately, it gives no info on specific devices, uch as the regulator, rectifier, etc. It just shows how it's all connected. But I have to know more!

I've puzzled over these diagrams for a while and one of the things I'd like to get a handle on is the regualtor and its connection to the stator. The use of the regulator to condition the output of the rectifier needs no explanation.

I would like to know why one side of the stator's charging coil is connected to another post on the regulator. Does anyone have a good, detailed answer?

Thanks in advance!

-dd-
