Just picked up 2006 220 LSE with 5.0L GXI SX 270 HP. WOT w/ 4 adults 2 young teens maybe 800# total plus 1/2 tank fuel just under 5k with 14.8 X 17 alum 3-blade turned 45 mph w/ engine trimmed. Good hole shot but seems 5-10 mph under top speed from what I expected from the boat & motor combination. Prop is a little rough on the tips but doesn't seem to be bent. No knicks or cracks. Any suggestions on a better prop choice to get another 5-plus mph too end?

Hi, I have the same 2007 boat and motor combo as you. I had a 14.5x19 3 blade prop when I purchased the boat. It would do 54mph at 4900rpm at WOT with 2 people on board and a 1/4 tank of fuel It didn't have the hole shot I wanted for pulling skis and boards around with a boat load of people and gear so I bought an aluminum 14.5x18 4 blade just to see what the difference would be. I lost over 6mph on top speed with the same WOT RPMs but the boat planes out faster and holds plane at lower wakeboarding speeds with 6-8 people on board. Before the prop change it would fall off plane around 20mph so it was hard to keep a good speed for boarding. I'd still like just a little more hole shot so next season I'm planning to go with the same four blade 14.5x18 prop but in stainless steel. I think that would be about the same as a 17 pitch in aluminum and may help gain some of my top speed back, but I'm not too worried about that. If you're not pulling skiers and boards and just want a higher top speed I'd look at the 3 blade 19, it should get you where you want to be. Hope that help a little. It's a great boat.

Your really lucky to stumble on someone with the same setup.Using 4900 rpm the calculator indicates your slip at 45 mph is 7%.
Possible but unlikely Most slip is in double digits 10 to 13% The tach may be off a couple of 100 low.
If we use 13% rpm indicated is 5200 but regardless your setup is working well.
It does seem that a 19" prop same brand/model would help top end.
It will lower rpm and slow hole shot, it may be more sensitive to added weight.

Also, just for an FYI my original 14.5x19 3 blade prop was a factory volvo prop that came with the boat when new.

Thanks for everyone's input, It is fortunate to hear from someone with so similar a setup. And is is a great boat. Roomy and comfortable, though I still need to learn how to trim it out for rougher waters (chop and rollers). We should have a chance to try it out with just two on board soon so we can see what the boat's performance is with a more typical load.
