What is the product that everyone says to use when putting the belge tube and motor mount bolts through the transom to water seal it... was it fiberglass resin or a silicone?? Any help appreciated... Thanks

Jon,

You want to use a silicone (marine) that remains pliable for the engine bolts. You may have to remove them someday. Plus there is vibration. I would use 3M 5200.

You can use the same for the bilge/spalshwell drains or set in MarineTex.

Re: Reinstalling motor and belge....

Thanks for the quick reply... I've been sweating on the finish of this transom project... I need the boat this weekend for a family reunion and I've been bustin my tail for the past 2 weeks rebuilding my transoms... I almost NEVER found a metal shop that would cut and bend a transom cap out of stainless steal until today and I have to still go pick it up and mount it and reinstall the motor and get it all going by Friday AM... The rush is on, but there is NO doubt that the transom will every fail me again!! I saved over a grand by doing it myself and yet it almost kicked my butt, I'm glad I did it... Sorry for ranting... Thanks again!
