Reinstalling my Engine (finally)

Well the time is almost here to reinstall the 3.0 into my boat. It's an OMC cobra outdrive. My SELOC manual says absolutely nothing about aligning the engine when only pulling the engine and bellhousing (which is what I did) and not disturbing the outdrive. I'd like some opinions, and then if necessary some details. Do I need to do an alignment? And if so, does that mean that I need to pull the outdrive to do it? If I understand correctly (which is not certain) What I will need to do is install the engine in the hull without the outrdive installed, then align the outdrive housing with the coupler using the alignment tool, then reinstall the outdrive. Is this basically correct? Feel free to add any instructions or tips for this first-timer here. I'm definitely the 'do it right, once, the first time' type. Or at least I like to think I am.... :)

Thanks!!

Steve

Exactly............ ;)

The Alignment Thing..??!
The Idea is to Align the Engine to the Outdrive,
Not the Outdrive to the Engine........

Yes, You Need to Do It........

Thanks Bondo. Is the adjustment made to the engine or to the outdrive housing on the transom? I do not see any way to adjust the placement of the engine (mounts, etc) and haven't seen the innards of the outdrive mounting yet...

Thanks!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, he said as the light turned on.....

So the alignment is only in the up/down axis, the left/right axis is set permanantly? I think I see now.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions Bondo!

Yeah that too!

Thanks again Bondo, you've helped me out from back in September when I blew a hole in the original motor, to when I was contemplating a V8 swap, till now when I'm about to drop the new motor into the boat. I really appreciate it.
