So I hit a rock, messed up propeller, broke a chunk the skeg and bent the propeller shaft. I've had the propeller and skeg repaired and am now working on the propeller shaft.
I took the lower leg off and removed the shift link shaft and the propeller shaft. A local machine shop straightened the propeller shaft so I put it all back together. $40 not so bad.
I all works as per my driveway test two days ago. But now I see I have an oil leak. It looks like it's the big O ring in the front of the bearing/seal casing. This is the only part I replaced new.. figures. With the motor tilted I can see a teaspoon of oil collected, so the leak is major.

So, i am looking for advice on how to assemble without pinching the o ring. I will be removing the bearing/seal casing and leaving the drive shaft in place. That's how it came apart this first time so I assemble in reverse order.

On another note, the lip of the housing is very slightly bent, just so the propeller rubs in one spot when spun by hand. I can tell where it's slightly dented. Do I try and hammer it out? grind the inside of the housing? It's only the last 1/8 of an inch that overlaps the propeller that is a consern.
Thanks Kevin

so it's all apart and it was the shim that was pinched in with the O ring. I guess it's better to drop the shim in the housing first then slide in the bearing/seal housing cast. Any tips out there for someone who has never had a go at something like this before. See you after I run the Yamaha for another shim. Oh, do I get the next size up to account for wear? This one is 5/1000
Cheers Kevin
