Is rejetting .002 over recomended after a powerhead rebuild on a Force 120 l-drive? Also, I noticed the top carb is currently .002 over the bottom. Is this normal or can they both be the same?

Speaking generically, dont mess with the carbs.
And dont mix them up.In a multi carb. set up
it is not unusual for the carbs to differ.
If your not working from a manual you should be.
Good luck.

Re: rejetting carbs after rebuild?

manual says top carb .096, bottom carb .094. I thought I read somewhere that enlarging main jets .002 after a rebuild is recommended. I made the mistake of only enlarging one, so both are now .096. It runs decent, but seems like it could run better. I've ordered another .094 will probably put back in lower carb, back to orininal settings. Anyone else have a comment on this?

Re: rejetting carbs after rebuild?

Wetdog, I have been rebuilding mercs and force products for years.....many of the mercs get a 'jet up' on a rebuild, many do not, it depends on the model and specific aplication ....the force rarely do I change...they seem to be fairly rich already. overjetting will show up as and engine that feels 'soft' at wot..it wont hit as hard as it should, not to mention the increase in fuel consumption...

Re: rejetting carbs after rebuild?

I just had my force 125 rebuilt. New everything and bored out. I notice now that break in is done (it has about 20 hrs on it) that my top end speed has dropped from about 35 to 40mph down to around 30. Timing and linkage/sync is all set correctly.

Is this normal?

Jimdi,

You might want to verify the throttle butterflies on the carbs are wide open when the throttle is wide open. If they are, you might want to verify you are running on all cylinders.
