I've completed most of my restoration, the only thing I'm
not happy with is the condition of the chrome around the
windshield. It's pretty "cloudy", for lack of a better word,
kind of hazy & chalky. I've tried "Silvo" and "Nev-R-Dull",
but neither seems to do much of anything. Does anyone
know of a product that will remove the haze and bring
back some semblance of a shine??

Thanx-a-bunch!! Bill.

I may be wrong, but the more you rub stuff on it, the more you microscopically wear down the plating. You'll need to get it rechromed. I had some motorcycle parts chromed at Browns Plating in KY, and they said the best way to keep it like new was to use only soap and water. Take it for what it's worth. Your mileage may vary.

On 2nd thought, see if a magnet will stick to your trim. If it doesn't, then it's stainless. You can buff that out with a buffer and stainless buffing rouge. Get a pad for your hi-speed drill and go at it.

the link in my sig has pics to how to polish that stuff up..... including the proper tools .never dull doesnt work. you need a pro polishing stick. the stuff is called rouge.

most boat builders didnt use chrome on the winsheild frames....they used polished aluminium. thats why yours is cloudy.

if it is chrome....which i doubt. in stead of re chroming....you can prep it like you would prep a paint job...and spray mirror silver on it....then shoot it with a clear coat.
it looks just like chrome when done.

I used this on my Aluminum windshield frame...and it now shines like Chrome. I previously used the rouge and a buffer but with this stuff I don't have too!!! It really brings out the shine.

So is this SS or Alum ??

IF its SS then its easy .. if its Anodized alum .. with a coating.. well then you have a problem. If its Chromed dipped something .. then you also have a problem ..

Pics please ..and more info :) .

What is it that you have .. did you determine that yet ?

YD.
