A while back I had to replace the starter on my starboard engine. What caught my eye was the serial number plate right above the starter. This number did not match up to the number on top of my motor. The serial number plate plate states that this engine is a Quicksilver re-manufactured engine built in March of 2003 with a serial number of 91001890. The serial number on top reads OL-314075. IT is obvious that the top end of the original engine got installed on top of the re-manufactured engine along with all of the accessories, water pump, alternator, etc., etc. I was just wondering how well re-manufactured this Quicksilver engine actually is?

This is a mix bag question. Some have had and stated they had great luck with Merc reman engines. Others will tell you that there are no better then Merc reman. I will state that my buddy has had 2 Merc reman engines and both had problems. Not knowing all the facts, but my guess is just like any other company. Merc as well as others look for the lowest bidder, the lowest bidder gives you the least mount of work to get the job done.
