remote control with 1999 johnson 15hp

The older motors had a side lever to shift from foward to neutral to reverse, but my newer motor has a pull shifter in the middle of the back of the motor - How do i set up remote control with this setup - is there an adapter or something that makes it work? I have inserted two links with pictures.

If you look at the parts diagrams for the remote controls for your motor you can see what the original idea was.

Go to shop2.evinrude.com and select OB ACCESSORIES from the drop down at the upper left part of the screen. Then pick your year and engine size.

It looks like there is an adapter to replace the shift lever with one that can accept a cable. List price is about $50.
