I got the Mr Gasket remote filter kit 7683 for my Merc 5.7 from Shucks Auto in Sep.

Finally took a look and found that the fittings are meant for a smaller diameter fliter cartridge like AC Delco PF2 or PF20 filters. Its 2.75inch in diameter instead of the larger 3.5inch Merc filter size.

Its a bit late and far to bring it back for an exchange. I am not familiar with Chevy 350's and need advise/info to see it can still be used as-is or to make an adapter plate to fit the larger filter or to junk it (there are no Chevy 350 engines around here). The oil filter location can only be louched and not viewed so I am not able to determine this unless I pull the engine.

Can the engine oil filter fitting take both filter sizes or must it be the larger filter?

Is it ok to use the PF2 or PF20 filter or its a no no?

TIA

Re: Remote Oil Filter

I think the Remote Adapter you got is Probably for the 4.3l Chevy,.... It takes the Small Chevy filter......
I Don't Think you have the option of using it,....
I Think that the Treads,+ the Gasket face are Different on the 350..........
That pretty much makes the Whole Thing a No No..........

Re: Remote Oil Filter

You can purchase separate parts of the Mercruiser Remote Oil filter Kit.They will bolt onto the block, and maybe you can adapt the rest of your kit to fit.

I would also inspect your Mr gasket kit for durability in marine use.
