I just bought a 96 Voyager Jon boat with steering console. My question is about a toggle switch just under the key switch on the shifter. Its in the on position, but has a shroud that covers it and prevents it from being accidentally shut off. What the heck is it for? I've intervened and flipped it on and off, but can't hear or see any results. Oh, and its a 96 Force, 40 horse if that matters.

Could Be a kill switch that isn't hooked up! If it covered, i would say that is it. It may be disconnected! Run motor and flip the switch. If motor dies that's it! If not ???? Go to this site and look up rigging then remote control! See if it looks close? If so then you know..

That is my guess with out seeing it.

I was thinking maybe tether/kill switch too. Maybe its never been deployed and is stuck cuz I could seem to pull it out. thanks
