remote starter connections

I want to ask a quick, basic question. What terminals do you use in the below pic to hookup a typical remote starter switch that has two wire/clip leads. I am thinking they go to terminals "A" and "D." Is this correct? If I don't want the motor to turn over I assume you just pull the coil wire to the distributor. Is this also correct? Want to make sure I have it right before I try it and mess something up. Thanks.

Re: remote starter connections

you are correct , however its a lot easier to make your connections at the slave solonoid. on a v6 or v8 its useualy mounted on top of the eng right behind the carb or throttle body. its a lot easier to hook up a romote starter button here than down under the manifold on the starter itself. if you have a 3.0 the slave solonoid will be at the back of the eng mounted on a brkt kinda above the starter itself. you must be wanting to do a compresion test.

Where would that be located on a 1997 4.3 V6? I am only familiar with the coil which you can barely see in the below pic behind/under the power steering pump hose on the port side of the motor. Don't know of anything else behind the carb other than the distributor.

 BATWINGS!!!!

Ok... That aside. If you don't want the engine to 'turn over' then DON'T connect a remote starter switch.... If you don't want the engine to fire then disconnect the high tension lead from the centre of the distributor cap and put it against the metal of the engine block.

The solenoid on your engine it behind the carburettor... and looks like this ...
