Has anyone installed a remote starting kit on their car? If so, was it difficult?

I have and no it wasn't.

I bought one from Sam's Club and then went to the website of the company for the wiring instructions.

Worked like a champ. Of course it helps that I am an aircraft electrician. :)

Thanks AK, I'm a backyard electrician, but I'll try my luck after Christmas. The G/F wanted one so I guess I'll test my skills on her car d:)

If you don't know what you are doing or don't have proper wiring diagrams it would be worth it to have a pro hook it up. if you hook it up wrong it can get expensive

If your car has a chip or transponder in the key you will need an extra key and security override adaptor also. I put one on my wifes Montana. I wouldn't say it was hard but it wasn't the easiest thing I've ever done easier. Having to lay upside down in the floorboard of a minivan was a real treat.

Almost positive that you'll have to have the kit. If you have to have a 25 dollar key that you purchase at the dealer rather than a 99cent walmart special to start it then you'll need the override. Its just a little box that holds your programmed key and sends its signal to the ign switch to let it know its a valid key thats trying to start it. As a plus/minus however you look at it after installing the security override a cheap key will start it and let it run.
