i have read that several of you remove your outdrive for the winter. I would like to do this so I can bring the outdrive home for service + paint in the comfort of my garage, but am wondering what you do to cover the openings that this creates.

my cruiser will be shrink wrapped and dry docked near lake erie.

Yep, there is actual bolt-on cover available. Or cardboard and duct tape do an excellent job.

i use trash bag and duct tape and a small plug for inlet. but a bolt on cover out of aluminum sounds like a good idea.

i just copied a pic of one of the aftermarket covers... can't remember where i found it at...

made out of matching coke bottle green plexiglass for my windows in my boat. a cut off vitamin c bottle and some glue.
a piece of plywood i'm sure would work well... i just had the plexiglass around.. a hose cut off to stud length and the drive nuts to hold it in place...
think i'll just go out and take mine off now...:(
