Remove shift/throttle linkage

I'm about to pull the right side valve cover on my 1992 5,7 as I have an oil leak that I think is coming from the cover.

By the looks of it the cover should come off if I remove the shifter/throttle linkage unit (whatever it's called...) that is bolted to the right side elbow.
Now to the million dollar question: If I remove the entire bracket (it looks like it's possible) as a unit, is it feasible to do it without messing up the "adjustments"? Everything works perfect - throttle/gear/ignition cutoff and I'd rather not mess it up.

Just remove the entire shift plate and cables as a unit.Remove the 3 7/16 bolts holding it to the riser and disconnect the shift interrupter wires

Thanks. Will that clear the path to the valve cover?

It's a tight fit but you can usually sneak it out
