I have a 1991 Yamaha Pro P50TLRP I have rebuilt the engine and have gotten rid of the oil injection system. Now I have no spark, what do I need to do to fix this? This does not have all the lights on it for the oil warning.

Re: Removed oil tank

The first thing to do is locate the white wire on the CDI module and disconnect it, if you now have spark, the problem lies in the wiring in the controls or boat harness. If you still have no spark then it gets a little more complicated. The best way to continue testing is with a volt meter and a peak reading adapter (CDI electronics). Without these tools, you are just king of guessing.

Did the engine have spark before you rebuilt it? If this is the case, then start looking at wires that are loose or in the wrong spots. If that checks out then remove the flywheel and check the flywheel magnets. This can be achieved by laying it upside down and placing a flatblade screwdriver against the magnets. The screwdriver should stay vertical when you let it go.

If you still have trouble, PM me on monday when I can get my service lit from work to help guide you further.

After doing some checking I had no power to the switch. I traced down the red wire and found that the fuse was blown. I had checked it earlier and it looked fine but may be it wasn't. Now I have spark and the engine runs fine with every thing working. Thanks for your help.
