I have recently inherited a 1992 Excel with the original 430b. Upon initial observation it had a cracked exhaust manifold and the port tilt? hydraulic cylinder was also cracked. I was able to get everything apart down to the flange screw on the inside of the boat but cant figure out how to get the spindle out. The center looks threaded so is there a special tool that I need? Essentially my question is how do I get the spindle out and ultimately the entire hydraulic cylinder?

I have never tried it, but according to an original Volvo sterndrive manual, you can remove the yellow plastic plugs on the outside of the transom, install grease fittings and "pump" the pins out with grease.

When I removed my 290 cylinders many years ago I made a tool, so they could be pulled out, using the thread you can see in the pin. At that time I didn't know it was possible to pump them out. It probably wouldn't have worked, since they were extremely hard to get out.
