I purchased a junk boat with a nice alpha one gen 2 outdrive and seized 5.7L v8 engine. Just wanted to remove the the good parts and give the rest of the hull for free to anybody who needs it. Disassembly was pretty easy and I did it before but when I removed the outdrive, transom plate and steering controls, I tried to push the gimbal housing down i found out it is sitting in pretty tight. I tried to hammer down the holding bolts from inside but not sure how hard to hammer them without causing the damage. Tired carefully to pry it from the outside but the housing does not move much and I dont want to damage the aluminum parts. Is there any trick in removing it safely?
thank you.

Does the trim motor work?
If so use blocks of wood and the trim to move the drive

Trim motor and the transom plate are already removed. And outdrive is also removed. The only thing that is left is a bell housing assembly, that is hanging on 8 bolts. But it is hanging there very tight. And I am afraid to hammer it out of the holes. Do not want to damage the bell hosing.

Suggest chain saw and cut it out, then take boat to the dump for maybe $200 or less

you would be surprised as to how many people want to get a FREE hull :D The dumpster will be my last option. Will try to use the box cutter or putty knife to remove the sealant first. The hull is not too bad, just need flooring, but transom and stringers are sound, no rot. But that is really not my problem, im not keeping this hull.

Don't hammer on the studs (they're not bolts), you'll crack the housing.

Putty knife, paint scraper, anything like that to get between the gimbal housing and the transom to break that seal is what you need.

Appeared that I really did not need putty knives or any cutters at all. Pried it a little on the bottom first, got a wide 2 inches flat wedge and slightly tapped it in, then next on the top of it. And then kept switching and slowly gently tapping them in one after one. The sealant first moved a little but then got separated and released the gimbal housing. No damage to the edge or gimbal housing. Piece of cake!
