Removing Collar Steering Fork

I am doing some of the prep work before taking my boat in to the shop. The mounting collar cracked where the lift device passes through. I have removed the drive and have most of the prep complete but have not figured out removing the collar steering fork. The drive is a 280 Volvo Penta. I have the manual but it really doesn't go into detail after the drive is removed.
Any assistance appreciated.

Yes, I am replacing the transom shield but I do not have the equipment to pull the motor so I am doing the prep and then taking it in to have the work finished. My problem is in pulling the collar steering fork (# 2 in the diagram you provided). I don't see any fasteners but don't want to break anything.

I believe #47 in the diagram is what is clamped onto the steering fork assembly from inside the boat. Loosen the bolt and the fork should slid out of the spindle arm and down out of the transom shield. It may take some persuasion.:)

Re: Removing Collar Steering Fork

Thank you for the response. I must be over looking something because I have not found a nut fastening #47 either on the boat or in the diagram. Can you reference any part from your diagram that fastens this part?

Thanks,

It at the top of the page in the link. It's the steering arm. It has a bolt that runs horizontally through it that clamps onto the top of the steering fork shaft.
