...and a plastic scrapper and then give it a quick buff..
We do it all the time with our trucks (leased - so they have to be cleaned up before return)

Re: removing decals

You might try a different approach . . . try to convince the wife that the name is appropriate . . .

1. It?s symbolic. That relationship is behind me like the boat on the trailer.
2. Boats will eventually cost you time and money. Wouldn?t you rather have that type of thing associated with her than you?
3. The boat always tends to have its nose (bow) in the air and its rear (transom) low. Kind of fitting, right?
4. If I take the boat out alone, I feel alone ? just like I did when I was with her. When I am with you, I never feel alone.
5. It?s a constant reminder that I am no longer with someone who is so insecure and petty as to want to mark me as hers.
6. Working so hard to remove it will just open old wounds. I would rather just leave well enough alone and forget.

Depending on your wife?s sense of humor . . .

7. Just like her, I don?t mind if my buddies get in the boat
8. If it?s not cleaned, it smells like fish.

:D

Please, please don?t take this advice. This is a joke and I have a skewed sense of humor ? just ask my ex-wives . . .

You might try Orange-Sol or De-Solv-It ? they both work really well at dissolving adhesives and are orange oil based, which should leave your hull shiny and smelling good.

Re: removing decals

Why on earth did you tell her it was your ex-girlfriend's name?
Should have told her the previous owner named the boat and it's bad luck to change the name of a boat.
A little fib would have saved you so much.
Even after you get the name off, you will be reminded of it down the road.
It's a Y chromosome thing.
:)

PS - is it safe to assume you don't know about the chocolate thing?

sorry, I got on a roll

Re: removing decals

if it is decal like every body said heat gun and then polish

if it was painted on use eazy off oven cleaner,it took painted names off my semi and didn't hurt the fiberglass hood.
