Removing Floors and Wood

I understand this is probably a commonly asked question but when I looked around I couldn't find exactly the answer I was looking for. I finished removing the carpet and electrics from my boat today and now its on to removing the wood seat bases and the floor and stringers so I can start redoing them. My question is what is the best way to do this without damaging the hull? I was able to get into the rotten wood of the seat bases and top of the floor with the claw of a hammer but I am deathly afraid of puncturing the hull. I read that an angle grinder is a must tool for what I am about to do but I believe that is more for grinding the hull when getting ready for reflooring, etc. Sooo... what should I use to get the wood of the stringers, floor, and seat bases off of the hull? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Removing Floors and Wood

You should post this in the restaration section, lots of good advise there.

Yes, I agree that this should be in the resotation section, but I will go ahead and tell you that yes, an angle grinder is going to be your best tool. Get a cutting wheel for it and use it like you would to cut sheet metal. that way you can cut into the deck, and then get down next to the hull and cut into the bottom of the stringers from their side. One the bulk of them is removed, you can go back to a grinding wheel and grind down the remaining wood/glass to the hull and then start over...
