Removing lower-end extension on Evinrude

Hi, I have a 1978 20 hp (mdl #208CR02C) Evinrude with a long shaft. I was wondering how much trouble it is to remove the 5" extension... do I need to replace the drive shaft, etc... I understand that I need to replace the seals, bla bla bla... I'm wondering more about the major components.<br />Thanks a Million!

You are trying to make a 20" shaft into a 15", correct?? The drive shaft and lower shift rod are normally what need to be changed. Removal of the extention housing is just a matter of a few bolts (obviously...).<br /><br />-John
