I have a 1989 50 HP force. I need to replace the lower seal on the powerplant However I have been unable to remove the lower leg or the power plant. I removed 5 bolts from spacer to lower leg I also removed the 2 that come through from the bottom. Am I missing something to pull the lower leg off. I put a bolt in even and tried tapping on with hammer and punch thinking maybe just stuck.

Should be 4 bolts and a nut(front) and maybe under the snout??
Does it wiggle back and forth?
You might need a dead blow hammer or a 2x4 to jar it loose.

Some rare cases: the motors hit something along the way and has bent the splines and locked it in place???
Just hope it aint that???

The lower unit and splined shaft are fine it is the part between the spacer powerplant and lower unit.

The lower unit off?

Then if you have all the screws out, the silicone is the only thing holding it in place??

The lower unit is off. Is the piece between lower unit and spacer plate the powerplant sits on yes. Maybe I have to hit it harder? I wrapped it pretty good with a bolt engaged about 7/8 way to try and separate the lower leg it seems to be called.

Unless you missed a screw/bolt then sillycone is the only thing holding it.
