Hi all. I am trying to replace the water pump on my 87' J120. Model J120TLCUR. I can get all the bolts off, including the ones under the trim tab thingy by the prop. Something is not letting the lower unit release, like the shift rod. I know I am missing a step but can figure out what, and I have tried Youtube without success. Can anyone point me towards an online repair manual I can look at, or if you know the answer to my problem, please share. I believe there is something about the shift linkage that has to be released but I can't figure it out.
Thanks,
Les.

Yea man there's a lil screw in the shift shaft under the carbs. You can see it from port
Side. Put a bolt back in he lower unit and take the screw out and it should drop right down.

Any idea as to what size screw this is. I saw it but is seem very difficult to get it. Is it one that screws in towards the back of the boat?
