removing lower unit of 2003 Yam 25 stroke

Regarding a Yam 25hp four stroke, tiller steer.<br />I chewed up an impleller. The repair shop said to bring in the lower unit and they'll replace the impeller. I got the unit unbolted, disconnected the ground wire and I'm thinking I have to unbolt the gear rod where it's visible between the lower and upper unit--correct?

On my 200s, once you remove the bolts, including some hidden ones, the lower unit drops right off. Have you tried this?

best I remember there is a union just above the gearcase that is a 10mm barrel nut with a 10 mm jam nut. but I dont have the service manual in front of me like you do, or should have.
