I am removing a 1983 150hp Mariner of my skeeter bass boat. My question is, how do you remove the steering linkage on the motor. Do I need a special tool? Thanks

Re: Removing Motor

Disconnect the steering link and loosen the large nut on the steering cable. Pull the steering cable from the tilt tube. In some cases, there is not enough bend in the cable to allow pulling it free so the engine needs to be lifted a little before it can be freed. Disconnect the fuel line, disconnect the engine electrical harness, disconnect the battery cables, remove the four engine mounting bolts and lift it off. Obviously you need to have the hoist in place before removing the mounting bolts.
