I bought a new coupler and it is coated with oil to prevent rust. I want to spray paint this thing with primer and paint but how do I get the oil completely off? Does Acetone work?

Yup, just put it in a squirt bottle and spray it off. Then wipe with a clean cloth.
Lather , rinse, repeat.

A 3.00 can of degreaser works good too.

Contact cleaner leaves no residue.

Go to autozone and get the valucraft carb cleaner, I think it's like $1.29 a can and have a ball. It won't leave a residue either.

Acetone is fine....use it.
Better than carb spray before painting. If you use carb spray then it will need to be washed in soap and water before paint will stick to it.

Just take it to the car wash and spray it down good.

With degreaser! Sounds like the best and quickest method. Thanks.

I still have to wash the fiberglass strands off my hood from this summer! lol Will do both the same day. Thanks!
