Removing or disabling oil pump on 125 Merc.

Greetings all, I have a 1995 Merc 125 OB that started doing the oil warning beep beep thing when the switch is turned on. It is full of oil and there appears to be no air in the lines. I have not ran the motor more than a minute or so since the warning started just to trouble shoot the system. I have been thinking of just going to premix over the last couple of years and this just made up my mind. This is the only OB I have ever owned with oil injection and I don't trust it...never had a problem with pre mix. Now the question....what is involved in it's removal or being disabled? What needs to be removed, plugged, unplugged, ect. to render it harmless? Any info would be appreciated. PS...my next OB will be a 4 cycle when this wears out. Windburn53

Re: Removing or disabling oil pump on 125 Merc.

Greetings Hondon, the beep beep is the same if the key is on start or the OB is running. There has allways been the beep as the key is turned to test the system but it will stop after a few seconds. The beep beep was nonexistant at the end of last years boating season and started when the OB was prepared for this season with it's first start. Over the last two years I know three people that lost OMC outboard powerheads that were traced to bad VRO pumps...one was under warranty, two were not. I would feel better with premix...more so now with the beep beep thing. Thanks, Windburn
