How about a link to a free, down-loadable factory service manual with step by step instructions? Compliments of the devoted members of iboats?

Link; http://www.4shared.com/file/116480357/2650579f/mercuiser2_73-79.html

Double check your serial numbers with the "models covered" section in the beginning of the manual. Then, get after it and ask any questions you might have.

Good luck.

Once you have your lifting device, (engine lift) or whatever you use set up, I think you will be suprised to see how easy it is to pull the motor, at least I think it was easier than pulling one from a car.

Don't remove the engine mounts form the engine, just pull the lag bolts out of the stringers. This will help keep alignment close, but will still need realignment upon reinstall.

Drive comes off first.

And keep the washer, spring stacks (rear mounts) in order for re install.

Good Luck!
