Doing the transom on my 16 ft Double Eagle . all the reading I have read says simply pull out rub strip ... This seems impossibe . Is the strip just rusted in or do I have to remove inner bolst before the strip ????

hope this makes sence
About every rub rail I've run across has a rather Stiff piece of Vinyl in it,... It's Hard when cold,.... Heating it slightly will Help get it started out of it's track,........
Once you've Pried out the vinyl,... You should be able to See either the Screws, or Rivits that hold the Aluminum rail,+ the 2 pieces of the Hull Together..............
Maybe the heat thig will be the answer , should I use a heat gun ??? and will this strip need to be replaced or should I use the old one.. I do see the screw heads when I peel back the small part of the strip I have tried to pull .

Will try heat this after noon

JAmie
giz -

I don't know if this is any help, but I had to pull the rub strip on my Starcraft. Port side came out easy, but not starboard. Here's what I did:

http://mysite.verizon.net/kilroyjc/id7.html

I used the winch on my friend's trailer to pull it.
A come-along would probably work well, too.

Crank the locking pliers as tight as possible, then put the hook on them.

Much easier to have two people working on this.

Good Luck!

Matt M
